Medication and Meditation

psalm302

I have found myself feeling “unwell” last week but really denied that I could actually be getting sick. I have had the flu shot and couldn’t believe that the trusty vaccination could ever betray me, but it did, it happens. The real kicker is that thankfully, because of course I would never wish illness on my family, I am the only member of my household to receive the flu shot and also the only one to have gotten the flu, as they are all too happy to remind me. What does all of this mean really, well, with time on my hands recovering and in between fever and chills I was thinking about my faith, where do I place it and what do I trust in? I would never ever tell someone not to receive a vaccine, my children are immunized and I do not believe in telling anyone how to live their healthy lifestyle choices. But I do wonder about them. Have you been vaccinated to protect yourself from the flu, I think we should have a balanced approach to everything in our lives and the cold and flu season is no exception. I personally am a homeopathic type but will incorporate my elderberry syrup with over the counter medication as well. I have taken the advice to stay home and heal. No work for me but hoping to return soon. In the meantime I’ve roasted several heads of garlic, indulged in gargling with warm water and raw apple cider vinegar and putting a bit of the ACV in my tea. hand washing, drinking emergen-c and oh yes, the most important, rest. Rest in the Lord, he is my strength and my shield. O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. Psalm 30:2. This clip art is posted on my refrigerator right where I can read it, speak it and claim it. I often find that my “down time” is the perfect time to reflect, focus not only on medication but meditation of a scripture verse of healing. Psalm 30:2 is the verse I connect with, what’s yours? Giving thanks for the flu for it has offered me that chance to get alone with God that I may not have otherwise taken, counting it all joy and thankful for an illness that will pass with medication and meditation, and roasted garlic.
